Jukin Media Pledges Funds for Hurricane Harvey Relief

It is no surprise that as the devastation from Hurricane Harvey continues to unfold, the number of Houstonians in need is increasing. Residents are displaced from their homes, and getting supplies to where they’re needed is one of the largest challenges facing relief efforts.

While many have organizations and volunteers have flocked to the Houston area to help, some of the most important charitable work has come from the local community.

Enter M & M Southern Creole Kitchen. An independently owned restaurant located roughly 30 miles southwest of downtown Houston, M & M is a local favorite for southern cajun and creole food.

It’s a small business, a self-described “mom and pop” restaurant, without a huge staff or a large corporate backer. And yet, when the storm hit, the restaurant and it’s owners -- Houston-area natives Mark Gagnier and Melanie Perkins Smith --  found themselves in a unique position to help.

With food and water extremely difficult to come by for hurricane victims, Gagnier and Smith realized that they could put the restaurant’s kitchen to use for the community. And they immediately sprang into action.

Ordering as much supplies as they can, M & M Southern Creole Kitchen has been cooking as many meals as its kitchen will allow for, feeding hundreds of people every day since the storm has hit. They’ve even been delivering food to those who are trapped in their homes, and providing food to first responders and volunteers.

To be able to continue serving much needed food to victims, M & M Southern Creole Kitchen has been asking for donations to help purchase ingredients, water, and other necessary supplies.

Jukin Media is proud to support the amazing work taken on by Gagnier, Smith, dozens of volunteers, and everyone at M & M Southern Creole Kitchen. Jukin is pledging $25 for every video clip added to the Jukin library during the second week of September 2017 (hundreds of videos per week is a usual volume), and will donate those funds directly to the restaurant so that they can continue their selfless, compassionate pursuit to feed and nourish as many displaced victims of Hurricane Harvey as they possibly can.
